A Year Has Gone! - ¡Un Año Ya Ha Pasado!

Well everyone, a year has gone by, I won't say quickly, but it surprises me that we are already into 2006. Really what is most surprising is that Joaquim is one year old. Looking back at the photos in the archives, it's hard to believe how much he has changed and how much we have changed in the experience of being parents. I have to say I really enjoy being an authoritarian! Ruth and I are very happy to have Joaquim in our lives even with the special challenges he brings to the experience. I for one never thought we could sleep so little and survive! We are both still waiting for the day in which we can sleep through the night without having to heat up milk. Kidding aside, we both love him very much despite Nala's persistent doubts.
This holiday season has been - dense with activity. First there was Christmas, then New Year's, then Ruth and I made a trip to Tenerife to hear Van Morrison play, later was the day of the three Magi, and finally we had Mar and Joaquim's joint birthday party. Whoo! Joaquim enjoyed all of it including his first night away from Ruth and I. He, of course, threw an all night party that involved lots of jumping in his bed! I hate to think what he is going to do when he is a teenager...Well, in the end he recieved more gifts than we have space for and Ruth and I are going to have to trade bedrooms with him. All in all, Joaquim had a great time and I think he is looking forward towards next year as much as I'm looking forward to him beginning Nursery school. We hope everyone has a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

Love,

Ruth, Ryan, Joaquim, and Nala
